What is the Mapdex toolbar for ArcMap

A global index of 0 servers, serving 0 map services, containing over 400,000 GIS Layers, covering more than 4,000,000 columns! For More information on Mapdex, please visit the Mapdex website . The Mapdex toolbar for ArcMap brings the mapdex search to ArcMap. Currently the Toolbar has only been developed and tested for ArcMap 9.1. With the toolbar you can search for GIS layers from ArcIMS mapservices and add them to ArcMap. Please send questions or comments on Mapdex and the Mapdex Toolbar to jbartley@kgs.ku.edu.

To install The Mapdex toolbar for ArcMap

Download the Setup and unzip it to a folder. Double click setup.exe. The Mapdex toolbar requires the Microsoft .NET framework to be installed on your machine. If you do not have this installed the setup prompts you to install it. We also recommend that you install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1. We have had some issues with machines not having the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1. Once this is done the setup for the Mapdex toolbar begins. Please visit the Sample Queries page once the installation is done. If you are certain that you have the Microsoft .NET framework 1.1 installed along with the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1, you can download this smaller setup file and install the Mapdex Toolbar. Shown below are some screenshots from the setup process:

1) Setup initialization dialog when setup.exe is double clicked:

2) If computer does NOT have Microsoft .NET framework the setup prompts you to install it:

3) Mapdex Toolbar setup dialog :

4) Read and agree to the Mapdex Toolbar disclaimer and License agreement:

5) Choose Mapdex Toolbar Installation Folder. Please note the folder you choose during this step, it will be used later in the setup.

7) Open ArcMap and Click Customize from the Tools Menu

8) The Following dialog appears. Click on the 'Add From File' button on the bottom right of the dialog

9) Browse to the installation folder you chose in Step 5 and choose the MapdexTool.tlb file from it as shown below:

10) A dialog confirms that the "Mapdex Toolbar" and the "SearchTool Button" have been added:

11) Check the Mapdex Toolbar option as shown below :

12) Mapdex Toolbar appears in ArcMap as shown below
